Mr. Coffey was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, on November 11, 1967. He is a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University (B.A. Business Administration, 1990) and The University of Tennessee College of Law (J.D., 1993). Mr. Coffey was admitted to the Tennessee Bar in 1993 and has also been admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Eastern and Middle Districts of Tennessee and the United States Court of Appeals, Sixth Circuit. Mr. Coffey is a member of the Knoxville Bar Association, Tennessee Bar Association, Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association, and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. He has been a member of the Hamilton Burnett American Inn of Court. Mr. Coffey is also a member of Tennessee Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Mr. Coffey has served as a speaker at various undergraduate legal courses at The University of Tennessee.
Mr. Coffey’s practice has an emphasis on litigation in the areas of personal injury, defective products, wrongful death, medical malpractice and professional negligence, and worker’s compensation. Mr. Coffey also represents citizens accused of criminal offenses in state and federal courts.
Mr. Coffey, a native of Knoxville, is married to the former, Katie Buckley, and they have three children: Jake, 7, and twins, Emma and Caroline, age 4.
