How to make sure that your tires are safe for the road

Whether you have been involved in a serious car accident in Tennessee or you have been lucky enough to avoid getting into a collision with another vehicle, it is crucial that you keep your automobile well maintained. While all of systems of the car are important, the tires are one of the most critical. Not only do they carry the entire weight of the car, but they also ensure your vehicle is moving safely when navigating through traffic. Since a number of collisions are caused by poorly maintained tires, there are steps you can take to ensure your tires are safe for the road. As a result, you can limit your chances of becoming involved in an automobile accident.

One of the best ways to keep your tires safe is to check the tire pressure at least once each month, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Tires that are underinflated or overinflated can become unstable on the road. In most cases, you can find the proper tire pressure for your car in the vehicle manual. Furthermore, the tread on your tires should be evaluated regularly for wear and tear, including cracks, uneven wear patterns or foreign objects that may be stuck within the tire.

Another way to improve the life of your tires is to have them rotated regularly and to have your steering aligned. This will ensure that the tire wear evenly. Also, be careful not to exceed your tires’ weight limit by carrying too much weight in your vehicle.
